Mount Evans at Sunset in Colorado is by far my favorite place to take my photo tour clients. At 14,265 feet above sea level, It’s my “go to” / “can’t miss” location. This past weekend I ran a friendly Aussie up there for photos and had my best sunset images of the summer. We really lucked out as the hours running up to sunset were quite stormy; however, it cleared perfectly just before sunset. The storms only enhanced the afternoon hours allowing us to capture some cool rainbow photos amongst other “soft light” imagery. But back to the sunset….
We reached the top in sub-freezing temps with extremely intense wind. I had five layers of jacket on and was still cold (this is in early September), but once the excitement of shooting kicked in I didn’t notice. That excitement also made me screw up many of my photos as I failed to properly think through settings on a large number of my photos. I was lucky to get what I have.
In any case, enjoy the photos. If you are interested in taking one of my Photography Tours to Mount Evans visit my tour website for more information.
