Photo Tour – Great Sand Dunes National Park

Written by Big Sun. Posted in Big Sun News

Great Sand Dunes National Park Photography Tour

When people think of sand dunes, they are most likely to think of The Sahara or some such place in Africa.  They most likely are not going to think "Colorado, yes, that's the place to go"…  But they would be missing an amazing example of some of the world's best dunes right here in Colorado.

The Great Sand Dunes of Colorado make for a truly amazing photo opportunities. The park contains 19,000 acres of North America's highest sand dunes.  Photographing the shapes, colors and shadows of the dunes themselves is amazing enough, but just behind the park are the beautiful 13,000 foot peaks of the Sangre de Cristo Range acting as a perfect backdrop.

Color vs. Black & White

Written by Big Sun. Posted in Big Sun News

This is a favorite topic for photophiles to argue about. Everybody has their point of view and everybody can say with confidence, "I like photograph A in Color" or "I like style B in monochrome"…. But can they explain why? In most cases no.  And so I'm writing a book. Half science, half public opinions and half great photography. (Yes yes,,, I know the math doesn't add up…. let it slide)

To get the research for this book completed and then have it all printed I'm attempting to raise funds on KickStarter.com (a group funding site). Please come read the full description of what I have planned. Check out the great fund supporter rewards I'm giving out too. http://kck.st/wgF5XK
