Faux Frames – Big Gaudy Frames for All
Have you ever wanted a big Parisian Gold frame for your artwork? Maybe Florentine style framing, the type that looks l like it weighs 200lb (and most likely does)? Well, that's sort of frame has generally been reserved fro rich people's libraries or museums. But now you too can make any art piece in your house look like the most important thing in the room (even if it's just a photo of last year's work picnic). Faux Frames to the rescue with light weight, inexpensive cardboard 3D frames. Yes, I said cardboard.
"The quintessential gold frame, or my interpretation, is a heavy oversized, ornate gaudy thing that envelopes the image giving it great importance. They are timeless and fit into any decor style. The frame I speak of is posh, old and not exactly priced for everyone's budget. So, I made them out of card board."
-Suzette Mehler,(creator)
The basic gist here is that you are buying a cardboard cutout printed to look like the carved antique wood often used to create those types of frames. The Faux Frame is shipped to you flat and after a quick easy "assembly" it pops into a 3D recreation of the old school European classics.
There are many advantages to these frames aside from the penny on the dollar price difference with the real thing. Their light weight makes them easily hung on even the flimsiest of dorm walls. And the fact that they are light and inexpensive makes them a breeze to move next time you change homes, dorms, or whatever. You can just pile them on one another and carry them off. No need to worry about nick and scratches (it just adds to the authentic look right?).
