Lightroom – Jpg files are not showing in import panel

Written by Big Sun. Posted in Lightroom, Tutorials

Jpg files not showing in LightroomQ: I know for a fact that I have “x” files sitting in folder “y”.  They are jpg versions of my RAW files which are already in LR.   I want to import these jpgs into my catalog, but when i look at my import panel.  NO FILES!  just the RAW files that I already have imported.  It simply refuses to see all those jpg files that I know are there.  I have imported jpg photos before, so what gives?

A: I ran into this same issue myself a while back.  It sounds like your problem is the toggle option “treat jpg files next to raw files as separate photos” .   You can find this checkbox here: Edit > preferences > general   Then just click that little checkbox (see arrow pointer in screenshot).  Now if you return to your import dialog I’m sure you will find that the jpgs are now displaying.

Note, however, this is NOT a retrospective action, so any RAW+JPEGs that you have imported already will NOT suddently appear as two photos.
